Hi. This one is from the same series as the Mother and Child. He is an haitian earthquake victim. One of the many orphans wandering through the streets of Port au Prince.

This series portraits the many difficulties our children live in less developed countries. Unfortunately, I still have a lot of paintings to do.

Hi everybody. You know. I´ve been a naughty boy. Almost two months without saying a word. I have been preparing my portfolio and my Uni application until now. I want to study and improve my art hence the lack of time to post anything.

But not posting doesn't mean that I haven't painted.

This was a comissioned job I did for a friend of mine. The girl lives in Latvia and my friend works here with me. Sorry, I don't know her name (please don't kill me Alex).

Hi. I'm back. Sorry for all the time passed without posting. I haven´t painted for almost one month due to my work shifts. I been getting out always at the end off the day which means there is no sunlight when I get home. I started this painting last month and only today I could finish it. It is quite big and for that reason I had to post a picture of my girlfriend next to it. Really hope it was worth the waiting.

Ok. I'm back for the second time in two days.This was my first objective when I created the blog. Try to update it on a daily basis with new paintings but, with so much travelling around, I found that to be almost impossible.I have finished the painting I showed you yesterday. The picture I used as a reference was one of a ethiopian mother and her son and the sadness in her eyes shocked me enough to paint it.I think this is the one that took me longer to finish because of all the details in her headscarf. The sad expression in her face was also a big challenge bacause I tryed to do it the most real I could.Hope you enjoy the subject of this painting and, if you don't think it is good enough, understand that I only started painting portraits in the beginning of this year and I still have a lot to learn.Even so, I think it is really good :)

Ok. Estou de volta pela segunda vez em dois dias.Este era o meu primeiro objectivo quando criei o blog. Tentar actualizá-lo diariamente com novas pinturas mas, de tanto viajar de um lado para o outro, descobri que era quase impossível.Acabei a pintura que vos mostrei ontem. A imagem que usei como referência é de uma mulher etiope com o seu filho e a tristeza nos seus olhos chocou-me o suficiente para a pintar.Penso que esta foi das que me levou mais tempo para acabar por causa dos detalhes no seu lenço. A tristeza na sua cara também foi um desafio grande porque tentei fazê-la o mais real que consegui.Espero que gostem do tema desta pintura e, se pensarem que não está boa o suficiente, compreendam que so comecei a pintar retratos no início deste ano e que ainda tenho muito a aprender.Mesmo assim, eu acho que está muito bom :)

Hi guys. I've been without net at home. So I hope you forgive me for the delay posting new works.This one is a lot bigger than the portraits I've done in the last weeks. Hi guys. This one goes out to all the reggae fans out there. Sorry if it is not the most realistic kind of painting but drawing all that fur is a little bit tricky. Even so, hope you guys like it.

Ps: just bought a Rotring A2 drawing board for £2.50 (lol) wich was something I needed desperatly because drawing in a flat table was killing my back (not to say ruining the top of my new table). Maybe now with some better conditions I can start posting new works almost daily.

Olá pessoal. Esta vai para todos os fãs de reggae por aí. Desculpem se não é o tipo mais realista de pintura mas desenhar todo aquele pêlo é um pouco complicado. Mesmo assim, espero que vocês gostem.

Ps: acabei de comprar um estirador A2 da Rotring por £2.50 (lol) o que é algo que precisava desesperadamente porque desenhar numa mesa rasa estava a matar as minhas costas (para não dizer que estava a arruinar o tampo da minha mesa nova). Talvez agora com melhor condições eu possa "postar" novos trabalhos quase diariamente. Vêmo-nos brevemente.

Hello everybody. Here is another one. This is a portrait of Gentleman. He is a german reggae singer and, in my opinion, even better than any jamaican one. Hi there. I´m back. I've been a little busy to come and post something but the reason why is this small pastel. It took me some time to finish it. The picture I used to make it, was one of the last ones my grandmother tooked before dying three months ago. She is holding my nephew who, at the time, was only one month old. I don't usualy paint babies because it still is too hard for me to do their cute little faces but he deserves to be an exception.

Olá a todos. Estou de volta. Estive um pouco ocupado para vir aqui e dizer alguma coisa mas a razao é este pequeno pastel. Demorei algum tempo para o acabar. A imagem que usei para o fazer, foi uma das últimas que a minha avó tirou antes de morrer há três meses atrás. Ela está a segurar o meu sobrinho, que na altura, só tinha um mês de idade. Eu não costumo pintar bebés porque ainda me é muito difícil fazer as suas caras lindas e pequenas, mas ele merece ser uma excepção.

Em cima está um pormenor da cara da minha avó.

Hi. That's why I love to come back to my country. I don't know, but every time I come back it seems I do some of my best works. I really should spend more time at home.
This is another one of the 3D buildings series but this time I decided to post part of the process that envolves them.
I think you already figured out the order of the pics but, in case you hadn't, here it goes.
First pic was taken when I decided how to arrange the boxes (already looks great doesn't it??). Second pic is after the first coat of paint (actually, this was how I wanted it in first place but because I am not very good at doing the boxes, I decided to paint it again in a darker color just to hide the irregular ones). Third pic came a little bit later:) You don´t see the entire process of the windows and stars, just the finished piece.
Another gift this one. Maybe next time I'll keep one of these paintings to myself. Maybe:)

Olá. É por isto que adoro voltar ao meu país. Não sei, mas de cada vez que volto, parece que faço alguns dos meus melhores trabalhos. Na verdade devia passar mais tempo em casa.
Este é outro da série dos edifícios em 3D mas desta vez decidi fazer o post do processo que os envolve. Penso que já se aperceberam da ordem das fotos mas, no caso de não o terem feito, aqui vai.
A primeira foto foi tirada quando decidi como organizar as caixas (já parece fixe, não já??). A segunda foto é depois da primeira camada de tinta (na verdade, era assim que eu o queria mas por causa de eu não ser muito bom a fazer caixas, decidi pintá-lo com uma cor mais escura só para esconder as que estavam irregulares). A terceira foto já veio um pouco tarde de mais:) Vocês nao conseguem ver o processo das janelas e das estrelas, só a peça final.
Este é outra prenda. Talvez na próxima vez eu guarde uma destas pinturas para mim. Talvez:)

Hi folks. Long time no see (or write, in this case). I'm in my country for now and had the chance to paint again. Not much time to do everything. It's family, friends, work.....

I hope you like it. It's made with those paints you have at home to cover the walls and is situated in the locker room of the shop of my brother in law.

Because it is the place the workers shower, I thought it was apropriated to do something related with water. Too bad I can't take the picture in a better angle....

Olá pessoal. Já vai algum tempo que não nos vemos (ou escrevo, neste caso). Estou no meu país por agora e tive a oportunidade de pintar de novo. Não há muito tempo pra fazer tudo. É a familia, os amigos, trabalho....

Espero que gostem. É feito com tinta daquela que se tem por casa para pintar as paredes e está situado nos balneários da oficina do meu cunhado.

Como é no sitío onde os trabalhadores tomam banho, achei apropriado fazer alguma coisa relacionada com água. É pena que não consiga tirar a foto de um ângulo melhor....

This was the first painting I remember selling. It went to a London restaurant to be re-sold to a client (have no idea how much they charge for it). But it is good to know that some of my paintings are travelling as much as I am.

This a spray painting in A3 Glossy paper I did when I still was in London. It's not a masterpiece but considering the time it took me to do it(about 8 minutes), I think it is quite good.

Hello everybody. I want to apologise to all of you (????) for the delay. I’ve been travelling for the past weeks and didn’t had the time to paint nor the will to post old pictures. I am sorry for that.
But now, I got back to Spain and started again with my paintings.
This is the actress Charlize Theron (hope she doesn’t mind) whose picture was in a magazine my girlfriend bought.
Promise this time I will do my best to post more often.

The last work I did. He is the deceased father of my brother in law. I never had the chance of meeting him but his son is one of the best persons I had the pleasure to meet.
My sister is very lucky (and so as he).
It was a good opportunity to practice my portrait techniques which have a lot more to improve (you have to see, I’m a self-taught painter).
It is really nice to see the reaction of those I paint (or the ones I paint to) when I finish the works.

O meu último trabalho. Ele é o falecido pai do meu cunhado. Nunca tive a oportunidade de o conhecer mas o filho dele é uma das melhores pessoas que tive o prazer de conhecer.
A minha irmã é muito sortuda (e ele também)
Foi uma boa oportunidade para praticar as minhas técnicas de retrato por ainda terem muito que melhorar (vejam, eu sou um pintor auto-didacta).
É realmente bom ver a reacção das pessoas que pinto (ou aquelas para quem pinto) quando eu acabo os trabalhos.

Hi folks. I hate commissioned works because they never turn out like you or the person that commissioned the work want them to be. It’s like, you paint better when you are doing it for yourself, not for someone else.
This portrait was something different. I did it as part of a portrait exchange. No rushes, no deadlines, no nothing, just me and the portrait.
She is an amazing painter called Kristin Elder and you can find her work here.

Olá pessoal. Detesto trabalhos encomendados por uma razão, nunca ficam como tu, ou a pessoa que o encomendou, o querem. Do tipo, pintamos melhor quando o fazemos por nós mesmos e não por outra pessoa qualquer.
Este retrato foi algo diferente. Fi-lo como parte de uma troca de retratos. Sem pressas, sem datas finais, sem nada, só eu e o retrato.

Well, first of all I want to apologise for this days not posting nothing, I just arrived at my home country and have been a little busy puting in place all my things. Second, this laptop is not mine, so I have to manage a way to get my pics in it or else I don´t have any for you guys.

This one belongs to my series of 3d buildings. It is a larger version for my mother that I did after her compliments to the other two.

When I say a larger version, believe me, it is HUGE. It is about the same size of them combined:)

wich means the double of the work. I have no intentions of doing the same thing so soon. Maybe one day.

Bem, antes de mais quero pedir desculpas por não ter feito nenhuma entrada nestes dias, acabei de regressar ao meu país natal e estive um pouco atarefado a pôr no sítio as minhas coisas todas. Depois, este portátil não é meu, por isso tenho que arranjar maneira de pôr as minhas fotos nele ou não vou ter nenhuma para vocês.

Este quadro pertence a minha seríe de edifícios 3d. É uma versão maior que fiz para a minha mãe depois dos elogios dela aos outros dois.

Quando digo uma versão maior, acreditem em mim, é ENORME. É quase do mesmo tamanho dos outros dois juntos:) o que significa o dobro do trabalho. Não tenho intenções de fazer o mesmo tão cedo. Talvez um dia.

This one is one of those paintings that you never seem to like when you do it. But my girlfriend insisted that she liked it and I could not paint over it. And now my family is always saying the same thing. If they like it, maybe you will too.

Este é uma daquelas pinturas que parece que nunca gostamos dela quando a fazemos. Mas a minha namorada insistiu que gostava e que eu não podia pintar por cima dela. E agora a minha familia está sempre a dizer a mesma coisa. Se eles gostam dela, pode ser que vocês também gostem.

This painting is one of the ones I like the most because of the amount of squares and the colours I used. If you see photos of the old part of my city (Oporto - Portugal), you will see coloured houses going from the river to the top of the hill without any urban construction planning whatsoever. It’s one of my favourite memories of it. The confusion of those houses is actually something beautiful. I think that almost all the old cities in Europe, if seen from some distance, will look disarranged and chaotic which is part of their charm.
I used spray paint in the background and paint markers to do the actual city.

Esta pintura é uma das que eu gosto mais por causa do monte de quadrados e das cores que eu usei. Se virem fotos da parte antiga da minha cidade (Porto – Portugal), verão casas coloridas que vão desde o rio até ao cimo do monte sem qualquer tipo de plano de construção urbana. É uma das minhas memórias favoritas. A confusão daquelas casas acaba por ser algo bonito. Penso que a maioria das cidades antigas da Europa, se vistas a certa distância, irão parecer desorganizadas e caóticas o que acaba por ser parte do seu encanto.
Usei tinta de spray no fundo e marcadores de tinta para a própria cidade.

Another landscape made with spray paint. Spray paint is a really good material for several reasons. Here are some of them:

-If you spray it from medium distance (30 / 40 cm), you can create nice effects, such as, fog or clouds easily.
-You don't need to know how to Paint with the actual spray can, just spray some of onto a palette and use the paint like any other material but remember that it dries after a couple of minutes ( you can always spray a bit more).
-The paint (if it is a good quality one like Montana / MTN) will have a nice shiny look almost like a photo.
-Can cover large areas quickly.

There are a lot more reasons but it’s just for you to get the picture.

Outra paisagem feita com tinta de spray. Tinta de spray é um material realmente bom por diversas razões. Aqui estão algumas delas:

-Se premir o spray a média distância (30 / 40 cm), pode criar bons efeitos tais como nevoeiro ou nuvens facilmente.
-Não é preciso saber pintar propriamente com a lata de spray, basta premir o difusor para uma palete e usar a tinta como qualquer outro material mas lembrem-se que seca passado alguns minutos ( pode sempre sempre usar um pouco mais da lata).
-A tinta (se for de boa qualidade como a Montana / MTN) vai ter um brilho bonito quase como uma foto.
-Pode cobrir áreas grandes rapidamente.

Há muitas mais razões mas é so para ficarem com a ideia.

It takes about 10 / 15 minutes to do one of this paintings because you have to paint everything before the paint dries.

Street culture. You can find it all around the world in any big city.
The same goes to Street Art. Face it, it’s the biggest art movement in the history of art.
Hundreds of thousands of teenagers and young adults do it. From Graffiti to Stickers to Stencils and even Installations. It’s crazy.
This three paintings represent a small sample of Street Culture and any young person will immediately recognize them.

A landscape painting for today. This one belongs to a series of several paintings done with spray paint on glossy paper. I love painting with spray paint because I actually enjoy the smell of it. I’ve always been interested with art and specially painting but it was with graffiti that I actually started to do it on a, almost, daily basis. When in London, I was forced to stop doing it because of the incredible number of cameras. Too risky:) But I couldn’t stop painting. So, I start expressing myself on canvas but, I never never will stop doing graffiti anytime I have a chance. Just hope not to get caught:)

Uma paisagem para hoje. Esta pertence a uma seríe de várias pinturas feitas com tinta de spray em papel fotográfico. Adoro pintar com tinta em spray porque eu realmente adoro o cheiro dela. Sempre estive interessado com Arte e especialmente com pintura mas foi com o graffiti que eu realmente comecei a pintar numa base quase diária. Uma vez em Londres, fui forçado a parar devido ao incrivel número de câmaras. Muito arriscado:) Mas eu não podia de parar de pintar. Por isso, eu comecei a exprimir-me em tela mas, nunca nunca hei-de parar de fazer graffiti a cada oportunidade que tenha.
Só espero não ser apanhado:)

Hi everybody. I’m going to start writing in English as well as Portuguese.
I know it’s better to do so, or else, just Portuguese speakers can read my blog.

Well, this is my first painting to Karin Jurick’s bi-weekly painting challenge at Different Strokes from Different Folks. I just love her blog. She gives us a reference photo that we have to paint our way. In this week’s challenge we were told to paint a Victorian house from San Francisco. It’s not my favourite subject but I was thrilled to do something different and to try to improve my skills doing it. Thanks Karin.
I did a pastel on Canson paper and, even so it’s not my best painting, I loved the experience.

Olá a todos. Vou começar a escrever em Inglês para alem do Português.
Sei que é melhor fazê-lo senão so mesmo pessoas que falem Português é que poderão ler o meu blog..

Bem, esta é a minha primeira pintura para o desafio bi-semanal do Different Strokes From Different Folks de Karin Jurick. Simplesmente adoro o blog dela. Ela dá-nos uma foto de referência que devemos pintar ao nosso gosto. No desafio desta semana, foi-nos pedido para pintar uma casa Victoriana de San Francisco. Não é propriamente o meu tema favorito mas fiquei encantado por fazer algo diferente e por tentar aperfeiçoar os meus conhecimentos fazendo-o.
Obrigado Karin.
Fiz um pastel em papel Canson e, apesar de não ser a minha melhor pintura, adorei a experiência.

Este quadro, junto com outro que representa noite, são parte de uma série de experiências que fiz alguns meses antes de vir para Tenerife.
Acho que foram os quadros que mais gostei de ter feito (e que mais trabalho e dor de cabeça me deram). São perto de trinta caixas feitas com cartolina e coladas sobre tela e, depois de seca a cola, pintadas a spray.
Depois de três dias a fazer caixinhas e mais caixinhas, parecia que já nem queria mais saber do quadro mas, chegado o momento de as pintar, o caso mudou de figura.
Já conseguia ver algo a aparecer e a saltar da tela em direcção a mim (literalmente).
A parte dura veio quando tive que fazer as janelas dos edifícios. São centenas de pontos e traços.
Não me estava a ver a fazer isso a pincel e, por essa mesma razão, adoptei algo diferente. Caneta correctora. Dessa mesma que se usa em qualquer escritório ou escola para emendar os erros que por vezes acontecem.
O resultado final foi algo que nem eu imaginava tão bom. Adorei. As Cores. A Tri-Dimensionalidade. A Paciência. Tudo.

Hoje recebi boas notícias, a minha namorada foi seleccionada para uma entrevista de trabalho em Londres. Boas notícias porque significa que, mais tarde ou mais cedo, voltamos para terras de Sua Majestade.

Esta pintura foi feita, e ainda se encontra, por Londres. Foi um presente para uma amiga dos meus pais pela hospitalidade com que os receberam por lá.

Esta é a minha primeira entrada no blog.

Por isso mesmo a primeira imagem que estou a postar é de um retrato a pastel da minha primeira dama:)

Comecei a pouco mais de três semanas a fazer retratos a pastel e, como tal, ainda tenho bastante que Aprender.

Espero que gostem tanto como eu gostei quando o terminei.
